This Porsche 911 by Berluti is restomodding done differently

While the leather interior of this Porsche 911S 2.4 Targa appears to have acquired some 65 years of beguiling patina, it was in fact recently crafted by the luxury French menswear brand Berluti. And it’s now for sale…

The tale of time

In addition to a comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration by Classic Driver dealer Early 911s, around 500 hours of craftsmanship went into the creation of this 1964 Porsche 911S 2.4 Targa by Berluti, which features an entirely bespoke interior finished in the French fashion house’s unmistakeable ‘cacao’ Venezia leather. Everything from the upholstery on the seats and door panels to the cladding, embossing, and switches has been given the Berluti treatment. Great effort was gone to making the new natural grained leather look as though it truly tells the tale of time, and it was definitely worth it – the sumptuous seats with their shade that ranges from a light beige to a rich dark brown, for example, genuinely look as they’ve been sat in every day for the last 60 years. The finishing touches are the ‘Berluti Paris’ signature on the glovebox cover and the ‘B’ monograms on the steering wheel and key fob. While the exterior has not been touched, it’s remarkable quite how much more elegant the new interior makes the silver Targa look from the outside. The unique Porsche will be sold by Sotheby’s in an online auction beginning today and ending on 7 May 2019, along with ‘unique objects from the toy box of the Berluti house’. The reserve price will be 140,000 euros.
