Description

Constructed by the factory on 31st January 1974 and supplied new by Lazenby Garages Ltd, first registered on 5th April 1974. Previously owned by Craig Bond, son of the infamous Australian Entrepreneur, Alan Bond

Acquired by the vendor on 1st April 1998 from R.S.Williams as a restoration project, this series 3 V8 had previously been modified for racing and required extensive restoration

Comprehensive restoration work began in 2004 and the body was removed from the chassis with new sills, outriggers, jacking points etc, all rust cut out and metalwork repaired then powder coated by renowned Aston restorer Alan Smith

The body panels were sent away for stripping to bare metal, after they had been acid dipped a number of the panels were deemed un-usable so replacement ‘Oscar India’ rear end, bonnet and roof panels were sourced and fitted. The door frames were repaired and re-skinned as necessary, carefully reassembled paying close attention to the panel gaps and shut lines. The V8 was then painted in the attractive colour its sports today, Graphite Blue

The interior was replaced in its entirety and fitted with a complete Parchment interior with Blue piping that was acquired from an 11K miles from new ‘X-Pack’ coupe that had been broken for parts!

The braking system was uprated with bespoke 6 pot calipers and discs to fit 16” Ronal wheels and a Harvey Bailey handling pack was fitted. The original engine was rebuilt by Fourways Engineering to series one Vantage specification with a 4” air box and stainless 2½” Vantage exhaust system and headers. Strengthened rear differential cradles were supplied by RSW and new radiator, fuel tank, heatshields and air box were specially made by Brise Engineering in aluminium

All chrome and metal work was re-finished with new lighting front and rear. Dashboard interior and headlights were upgraded with 4 sight modern LED upgrades and Xenon headlights and driving lamps with new electric door mirrors and an alarm/immobiliser system with push-button electric start. Upgraded alternator and starter motor were sourced and fitted with twin zone electrically heated rear window, X pack steering column, indicators and steering wheel, parchment leather interior, dash, gauges and wiring loom

All other components (steering, servos, etc.) were over-hauled, refurbished or upgraded with new fuel pipes and brake pipes and hoses. A Becker Satnav period Radio was fitted along with rear parking sensors and a 6-speed automatic gearbox installed by GTC engineering

Between November 2016-April 2017 the engine was completely rebuilt by V8 expert Rikki Cann with capacity enlarged to 5.7L, new ‘X-Pack’ camshafts, bigger pistons and liners, replacement cylinder head and many other upgrades mated to a modern six-speed gear box with fuel injection, housed in the body of the carburettors

An opportunity to acquire a properly restored and tastefully upgraded V8 with similar performance to a factory Vantage, fitted with a host of modern upgrades to improve reliability and drivability
