Description

The 360 Modena was announced at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show to replace the beloved F355 that had enjoyed a five year production run. After the charismatic beauty of the F355, the 360 Modena was a radical styling departure for Ferrari. Gone was the central egg crate “radiator” grille. Aerodynamic considerations played a major part in the design of the 360 Modena, thus the front featured twin radiator inlet grilles, one either side, allowing airflow to pass under the raised centre section feeding air to the twin rear diffusers, increasing downforce as the car’s speed rises.
The engine was a derivative of the F355 with a small increase in cubic capacity to 3.6 litres, hence the 360 model designation. The longitudinally mid-mounted, 90 degree V8 engine had an actual cubic capacity of 3586cc, with a bore and stroke of 85mm x 79mm, five valves per cylinder, twin overhead camshafts per bank, and dry sump lubrication. The block, cylinder heads, sump, and sundry castings were all constructed from light alloy. A Bosch Motronic ME 7.3 combined fuel injection/ignition engine management system was fitted, featuring a “fly by wire” throttle system, and a variable back pressure exhaust system, to provide a claimed power output of 400bhp, which equates to 112 bhp/litre, driving through a six speed manual transmission.

The Ferrari 360 Modena offered here at Autostorico is a 1999 “V plate” which has covered just 34,264 miles from new. This stunning example was supplied new by Maranello Sales of Egham on the 22nd of October 1999 and is finished in Rosso Corsa with Nero leather and Rosso stitch. This beautiful 360 offers an excellent specification with such highlights as; Giallo rev counter, Rosso brake callipers, Challenge Rear Grille, original Ferrari toolkit and Cavallino in the headrests. The car boasts an excellent service history having been carried out by a mix of Ferrari main agents and latterly by QV London, a well respected Ferrari specialist. The most recent QV service was carried out at 34,112 miles and included replacement cambelt in 2018.
