Description

"The first generation Range Rover was initially not designed as a luxury 4x4; while certainly upmarket compared to the preceding Land Rover models. The early Range Rovers had fairly basic, utilitarian interiors with vinyl seats and plastic dashboards designed to be washed down with a hose. Features such as power assisted steering, carpeted floors, air conditioning, cloth/leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later. The Range Rover was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis, similar to contemporary Land Rovers. It utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four-wheel drive, four-wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine. This example is presented in fabulous order throughout, it has had just two owners from new, both fastidious in their care of the car and today presents as if restored. We are assured, however, it is in this condition purely due to the quality of care and ownership. Offered in black with contrasting grey velour trim and presented with an original letter from the supplying dealer, this Vogue specification car was importantly Waxoiled from new. We are informed the car has been garaged throughout its life, initially by the first owner, a garage proprietor, and then a Range Rover enthusiast and club member, indeed, getting underneath the car provides any buyer with the confidence needed to trust in the quality of this classic Range Rover. At 95,000 miles the original engine was professionally replaced with a later Land Rover 3000 TDi engine and this manual version sits on recently replaced Michelin tyres and offers power steering and a fully fitted tow bar with electrics, making it extremely capable as well as impressive in its condition. Importantly, as stated by the vendor this car has 'no rot' and is presented in collector condition, it could make an entirely capable on or off road utility car in 90's luxury, certainly cooler than, and nearly as capable as, the ever popular utilitarian Land Rover Defender which has become so popular of late. Offered with the original handbooks, two sets of keys and a current MoT test certificate valid until November 2019, viewing is strongly recommended.
