Description

"One of the most recognisable and pretty sportscars of all-time, the 356 was the work of Ferry Porsche who had been inspired by the FIAT-based Cisitalias of Piero Dusio. The formula was simple, a platform with an eminently tuneable engine to the rear and completely adaptable to weekend motorsport should the mood take you. So much so, that a works car finished first in class at Le Mans back in the day. This is the sort of pedigree that no amount of advertising can buy.  Unsurprisingly, the 356B followed the A, with a 1,600cc engine, a more modern wraparound windscreen and 15-diameter wheels. The 356B represented significant advances in driveability and comfort over earlier 356 models and is a pleasingly quick way to enjoy the traditional Porsche values of quality, reliability and mechanical robustness.
And the convertible version is even better.
Fully restored in South Africa before being imported to the UK, this immaculate example has been finished in a metallic ice blue with a matching blue interior. It was stripped to bare metal, painted and reassembled. The interior is as new and all mechanics have been stripped down, repaired or replaced when necessary. The final result is a 356 with the better uprated ‘B’ bodyshell, the more powerful T6, 1600cc engine and, of course, the convertible option, the only way to properly enjoy the countryside. Needless to say, the oft-missed roof mechanism has been restored together with an all new softtop and tonneau cover. In summary, a classic Porsche 356B T6 convertible prepared from bumper to bumper for the next generation of collectors or enthusiasts to enjoy."
