Description

"To modernise the Triumph TR5 that had evolved from the Michelotti designed TR4, Triumph looked to produce a new modern body. Triumph commissioned Karmann of Germany but the task was difficult as Karmann had to produce a new body style whilst retaining much of the original structure. The re-style included a new nose, wings and a new tail. The result was the 'Kamm' tailed TR6 and was produced between 1969 and 1976. The home market TR6 initially produced 150bhp but was later detuned to 125bhp. Due to their greater power output, the early models are sought after amongst the Triumph enthusiasts.
This particular example was purchased by the present owner in April 1984 and he has cherished it ever since. Accompanying the car is a substantial history file containing photos of the extensive work carried out over the years, in particular are the invoices from Racetorations totalling £26,343 for the many upgrades which were carried out in 2006. Some of these included the fitting of a Quaife limited slip differential, triple 45DCOE Weber carburettors installed and much more. Presented in black with a black interior and white piping, the owner also had a new mohair hood (also in black) made and fitted some years ago. This car has also had Minilite wheels fitted and a half roll cage installed in the rear. The throaty six cylinder engine sounds glorious through its twin stainless steel exhaust system and priced sensibly, this is a great opportunity to own a wonderful British classic which is so much fun to drive."
