There is no bigger praise for any car than to be a named part of a ‘holy trinity’ of cars. The 918 Spyder, the final piece of the trinity threesome, was Porsche’s answer to the new breed of hybrid hypercars. These cars coupled already high-performance engines with ground-breaking hybrid technology.

The 918 merges two electric motors, totalling 286hp, with a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated, 4.6L V8 engine, totalling a combined output of almost 900hp. The liquid-cooled, high-performance lithium-ion battery can be charged both in the wall and on the go. Additionally the car can be driven on its electric motors alone for a total of 19 miles. One electric motor drives the rear wheels in parallel with the engine, via a 7-speed PDK double-clutch gearbox , whilst the front motor directly drives the front axle. This assists the 918’s blistering 0-62 time of 2.6 seconds, a triumph over the LaFerrari and P1’s times.

Supplied in meteor grey, this 918 also benefits from the infamous acid green details, reserved for Porsche’s hybrid range, which strikingly contrast against the body colour. The interior is equally as restrained with Onyx Black leather upholstery and silver piping, which extend the theme of the naked carbon tub and bucket seats to an elegant finish. The car is number 398 of just 918 cars produced, has a number of benefits including front nose lift and the carbon fibre interior package, and has only covered 1461km in its existence.
