Description

"This most iconic of sporting tourers, featured in classic television series such as Dallas and Dynasty, summed up an entire frame of mind, fashion and period of engineering from two decades. Indeed the Mercedes-Benz Roadster is still being made; such was so intrinsically good was the design. It also looked great, a long bonnet with a series of good engines to choose from, comfy, and well-built. It was a perfect recipe.
Ordered new by the chairman of the London Stock Exchange on 12/11/79, it was collected from the factory by Mr. E. Dunscombe who was on secondment to the Frankfurt Stock exchange for six months. This six-cylinder car has, what is often thought to be, the most desirable of engine sizes, 3.5 litres, the colour scheme is also popular, silver with a blue leather interior, matching blue convertible roof, hard top as well as a manual gearbox, all conspire to produce a motorcar that ticks the boxes. The condition of the bodywork is very good throughout, fog lights are included, good quality ‘Mexican Hat’ alloy wheels and a Nardi steering wheel represents handsome additions to this most classic of sporting tourers. The history folder contains all the original paperwork, invoices and correspondence with the factory including the original factory order form. Also included in history file are the old MoT test certificates confirming the mileage and service and works carried out by SS Motors of Weybridge including a new MoT test valid until February, 2020. With values of these cars on the rise, this represents an exciting opportunity."
