Description

"This excellent lefthand drive 1952 MG Midget was subject to a ‘chassis up’ restoration which started in May 2014 and completed at the beginning of 2016, this restoration was fully documented and photographed. Finished in green with the original leather interior re-coloured in tan. It is believed that the mileage of this car is very low and the history file would indicate this is correct, however during the restoration the engine was stripped down completely where it was found to be in excellent condition throughout. Whist the engine was apart with the cylinder head removed it, seemed prudent to replace the valves and valve guides. The engine was reassembled using all new seals and gaskets including a new front crank shaft seal. The gearbox was also opened and fully checked before cleaning, painting and refitting with a new clutch assembly. It is reported that the engine runs superbly and the car drives better than when it was new.
The first owner, Mr. John A Deady, purchased the car as a 'used' car on 6th February 1953 from the Bekrag Auto Sales Corp. in New Jersey after they had finished using the car as a demonstrator. He bought it for his daughter Jaquith, to drive herself between home and college. After graduation, she got married and in December 1954 moved to Hawaii leaving the car at the family home were her mother used it for a short period of time. When the couple returned, they moved to California and the car was taken there and put into storage. The first Californian registration in the file is dated 16th February 1980 but the car was driven very little and was mostly kept in storage. On 14th September 1991, it was sold to Michael Arnold of Los Altos, California, an MG collector whose intention was to restore the car. However, after retirement, and moving to Nevada he decided to sell it. Paul Moser purchased the car in July 2012 with the odometer reading 9,600 miles and he set about the restoration. The current vendor acquired it at the beginning of 2018 and imported the car to the UK, registering it in July.
This excellent MG TD is supplied with a V5C registration document, American registration documents, the original bill of sale including the finance agreement and the original handbook and sale brochure. Accompanying the car are two files, the first containing the history of the car with the above documents and a CD Rom of photographs and the second file containing invoices. This is a superb example which is ready to be used and enjoyed."
