This specific car is an original A-Code, four-speed manual fastback Mustang that has been built to the exact specification of Steve McQueen's Mustang from the legendary film 'Bullitt'. It was built at Ford's Metuchen factory in New Jersey in 1967 and has recently been the subject of a full bare metal restoration in 2008 in the USA. This entailed the removal and replacement of any damaged or rusty body panels, new chrome and bright work, new deluxe interior, new carpet and seat covers and a rare overhead console with integrated map lights. As per the original 'Bullitt' Mustang, the bodywork was finished in the correct Highland Green Metallic paint supplied by Dupont and a blacked-out grille with tail light details were fitted. American Torque Thrust wheels, 7-inch fronts and 8 and a half inch rears, with white lettered BF Goodrich tyres complete the true 'Bullitt' look. The car has now been fully rebuilt into an extremely powerful machine. The original 289 V8 was discarded in favour of the correct 390 big block. At the time of restoration, the engine was rebored, the crankshaft reground, new pistons and bearings fitted, and all reciprocating parts fully balanced. The rebuild included the fitting of full CNC-machined Edelbrock aluminium heads, new timing chains, new Stage-2 Crower camshaft and tappets, Edelbrock dual-plane aluminium manifold and an Edelbrock 750 CFM carburettor. In addition, an electronic billet distributor and ignition box were also fitted. In order to handle such power, an 11-inch performance clutch assembly with fully rebuilt four-speed, top-loader gearbox and an overhauled 9in rear axle were fitted. Stopping performance has also been uprated in the form of a front and rear disc brake package by Wilwood.Following the completion of the restoration in 2008, the car was imported to the UK by a renowned collector in December of that year. Purchased from us by rock legend, and Jamiroquai frontman, Jay Kay, the car has been maintained with no expense spared, including another more recent major engine rebuild and further upgrades, details of which are all available in the comprehensive history file confirming over £7,000 spent in July 2017, since which time the car has covered just a few hundred miles. It sounds, looks and drives absolutely superbly now and is ready to be enjoyed without the need for any short-term spend. The eagle-eyed amongst you will spot that this car was also offered and sold in 2012 by Silverstone Auctions. The large history file, recently added to, details import paperwork confirming EU taxes are paid, an original Certificate of Title from the state of Pennsylvania and the car also comes with a fresh MoT. This outstanding Mustang sounds absolutely incredible and offers its new owner an iconic muscle-car motoring experience at a fraction of the build cost.  - this is a unique opportunity to have your own "Bullitt" car, which is particularly topical as the original Mustang from the film has recently been found and valued at a million dollars. Making this one look extremely good value!
