Elegant Art Deco dials for Panerai’s new limited-edition Radiomirs

Panerai’s latest pair of limited-edition Radiomirs features minimal Art Deco-style dials directly inspired by a pendulum clock found inside the Italian watchmaker’s original boutique in Piazza San Giovanni, Florence…

At 47mm, the Panerai Radiomir 1940 is undoubtedly a large wristwatch. But the elegant and understated Art Deco dials on the new limited-edition PAM 790 and PAM 791 models will divert attention away from the diver’s size and instead towards its fundamental style. The ornate dials are flat and accentuated by Arabic numerals, ornate chapter rings, and tapering spear-shaped hands – all of which are said to recall a pendulum clock from Panerai’s original Florence boutique, dating to the 1860s. Both identical save for their black and ivory dials, the Radiomir 1940s are powered by a hand-wound movement packing three days of power reserve and visible through the exhibition casebacks. Just 300 of each will be built and sold for 9,200 US dollars apiece.
