Some cars need no introduction and the Jaguar E-Type is no exception. The Series II cars that were produced from 1969 to 1971 can be identified by their open headlights, no longer with glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper with the tail lights now underneath, and the front indicators were larger and similarly repositioned below the slightly heavier front bumpers. The cooling was much improved helped by the enlarged 'mouth'. Series II cars also feature twin electric fans and uprated brakes. The engine is easily identified visually by the change from smoothly polished cam covers to a ribbed appearance. The Series  II was initially produced as an Open Two Seater (OTS) or two-seat Fixed Head Coupé (FHC) but by the mid-1960s, the high demand for the car prompted Jaguar to offer a third option, for the driver with a young family, in the form of a 2+2 Coupé. By adding nine inches to the wheelbase and two inches in height, it was then possible to fit a rear seat capable of seating two adults in tolerable comfort and perfect for children. The longer wheelbase also had the added benefit of allowing Jaguar to mate a Borg-Warner automatic transmission to the 4.2-litre engine, thereby further widening the appeal of the model.  This is an excellent original example of a genuine UK-supplied, right-hand drive, manual gearbox with matching numbers 1969 E-Type 2+2 with only six former keepers.Smartly presented in the classic colour combination of Carmen Red with a black leather interior and wire wheels. the car appears to be in very good condition with bright paintwork and excellent shut-lines. It further benefits from a stainless steel exhaust system and a Webasto folding sunroof also in great condition.  The odometer indicates a recorded mileage of 80,500, which is supported by MoT Certificates dating back to 1975, and the mileage in November 2005 was 79,062 as recorded in the MoT history, so it would appear that between November 2005 and September 2018, the Jaguar only covered a total of 1,438  miles. Our vendor advises us that this beautiful car drives well and sounds healthy.Accompanied by its history file, fresh MoT, and Heritage Certificate, this very useable E-Type offers everything you’d want from such an iconic model, with the bonus of a couple of extra seats, and is presented at a very realistic guide price compared to other similar matching-numbers offerings.
