Description

"Stylish, fast and practical, the Stag began life as a Triumph 2000 based styling exercise by Italian carrossier Giovanni Michelotti. A 2+2 convertible, Michelotti's design featured a quad-lamp grill and sculpted front and rear ends, the latter destined to appear on many future Triumphs. By the time production commenced in 1970, the 2000's six-cylinder engine had been replaced by a three litre V8. A padded, 'T' shaped roll bar bracing the door pillars and windscreen was one of the Stag's most distinctive features and the model was available in soft top, hard top, or soft with hard top formats. Motor Sport described the Stag's interior as, 'well appointed, having all the usual instrumentation one would expect in a high performance car.'This Mk. II example was delivered on 1st March 1974, the first day of the new ‘M’ registration for years 1974/75. Finished in Mimosa Yellow, with a fully documented repaint in 2010, we are informed the paintwork presents well. From photographs taken during the restoration works it is evident that the car was structurally very solid and a worthy project to work upon. Presented with the original bronze interior with period brown carpets, the hood is in good order as is the original hood mechanism. TPJ 615M is fitted with the desirable 3.0 Ford Essex engine, which was professionally rebuilt and installed in 2010 and has travelled only 2000 miles since. The Ford engine was not only more reliable than the original V8 but also generated slightly more power and is coupled to the desirable manual gearbox. The car has a small history file with numerous old MoT test certificates, recent invoices for servicing, water pump, engine rebuild and repaint amongst many other parts bills this coupled to an MoT test certificate valid until June 2019. This is a great opportunity to own a very British classic that represents great value in the market and is most importantly in excellent usable condition."
