These 10 special Rolex Daytonas will all be auctioned this month

Earlier this year, we delved into the world of the Rolex Daytona – a watch that, ever since the record-breaking sale of the Paul Newman’s ‘Paul Newman’, has seen a drastic increase in interest. Fortunately, an exquisite and broad selection of vintage Daytonas features in two upcoming auctions…

Between Art Contact-Wannenes’ Rare Jewels & Watches sale (13 July) and Monaco Legend Group’s 55th Anniversary Auction (19 July), you can find some of the rarest and most significant Rolex Daytonas in existence.

From a pair of superb ‘Paul Newmans’ – a reference 6240, estimated to fetch 350,000–550,000 euros, and a reverse-panda reference 6262, expected to garner 150,000–200,000 euros – to a more affordable reference 6239, known in watch circles as the ‘Houdini’ (est. 25,000–35,000 euros), there’s such variety with the Rolex Daytona, which is why they appeal so much to collectors. Our favourite, though, would have to be the ex-Peruvian Air Force reference 6263, with its gorgeous tropical dial (180,000–250,000 euros). You can find the entire catalogues for both sales listed in the Classic Driver Market.
