Description

Guide price: £30000 - £35000.

First registered in the dry State of California and imported into the UK in 1989

Large history file including plenty of bills for work carried out and a handwritten log from the 80s

Sill replacement and respray in 2000. Less than 400 miles travelled in the last 10 years

Running and driving but with the potential to return to its former glory

Penned by Pinin Farina and launched in 1955, the 750 Spider, utilising a slightly shorter wheelbase than its sibling saloons and coupés, is powered by a cast-aluminium twin overhead-camshaft 1290 cc engine, and with its sophisticated suspension and effective Alfin brakes, had handling and performance to match its good looks.

Leaving Italy in 1957 and supplied to the low humidity climate of California where it was registered in 1958, this pretty convertible was bought to England by its American owner, registerd in 1989 and used to tour Europe including a visit to Milan attending the Alfa Romeo 70th anniversary celebrations of 1994. It has been with its current custodian since 1995. Inner and outer sills were replaced in 2000, followed by a fresh coat of paint and some underseal. It has been dry-stored and only used occasionally since, having covered less than 400 miles during the last 10 years. This stylish Italian is running and driving and appears unmolested with very few modifications save the fitting of American style lap belts and an electric fuel pump. With a good-sized history file including a hand-written log of work from the 1980s, and plenty of receipts for parts and work carried out over the years, the car is now in need of a little TLC to bring it back to its best. With restored Giulietta Spiders changing hands for figures in excess of £50,000 this pretty convertible would appear to be rather good value for money.
