Description

Guide price: £65000 - £75000.

Rare right-hand drive UK-supplied, '73 2.4 E with supporting history file

Cherished by our vendor who has maintained the car over the past five years

Supplied with a UK V5c and MOT tested until 11th October 2018

This is a 2.4E that you could drive and enjoy or restore totally

Porsche produced the 911E from 1968 to 1973, (B-Series to E-Series) replacing the 911 (Lux), and it was designed to be the most comfortable and drivable of the 911 range fitting neatly between the 911T (Touring) and the 911S (Super). The designation 'E' came from the German for injection: Einspritzung. The mechanical fuel injection system (MFI) was developed jointly by Bosch and Porsche to be used on the 911E and the 911S and resulted in more power, better drivability, and a cleaner running engine. In 1972 the 911E (E-Series) benefitted from a larger engine (2341cc) and the stronger 915 gearbox, and in 1973 the oil-filler was moved inside the engine bay and the front spoiler from the 911S became standard.

Offered here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive Porsche 911E 2.4 delivered through Cartune (Teeside) Ltd, Middlesborough on 1st January 1973. Originally finished in red with a black leatherette interior, the car is now presented with silver paintwork. A Letter of Origin from Porsche confirms the usual details about the car including where it was delivered new, although it does not include the engine number. However, we do believe that it does have its original engine as supported by copies of the first three UK registration documents which all clearly state engine number #6230465.

The condition of the car appears to be fairly original, especially the interior and although there is a Prototipo steering wheel currently in place, the original wheel does accompany the sale. There is a solid history file from over the years documenting monies spent with Strasse and Gateforth Sports cars along with a host of old MoTs and copies of old V5s.

In great useable condition, this car would be a decent daily driver for the next few years or would make the perfect candidate for a rolling restoration or indeed a full restoration. Supplied with lots of invoices, a UK V5c and an MoT valid until 11th October, home-market 911Es rarely come to market and we urge you to come and view this car in person.
