Description

"The Contemporary Classic Motor Company was set up in 1978 by Peter Bayer in Mamaroneck, New York State, USA and his reproduction of the legendary Shelby Cobra 427 was regarded by many as the finest replica of the marque because of the accuracy of the bodywork, its round-tube chassis and the overall quality of the engineering and general construction. All parts for this car were imported by the owner from America between 1995 and 2003 and it was built by him over a 10 year period with the help of American Speed Specialists in South London. The bodyshell is fibreglass with a double round tube steel chassis and the engine was sourced by American Speed from the USA and is a Big Block Ford FE 390 unit with iron cylinder heads and bored to 452.7 cubic inches (6997cc) and fitted with Holley double pumper 750 CFM carburettor, fast road camshaft and custom made de-restricted straight through exhausts. The car also comes with a hard top, brand new tonneau cover, side screens and wind deflectors. The paintwork is the correct Sikkens Chrysler France 72 heavy grain Gold from the period. Many original 1966 parts were fitted including lights, switches and the Smith gauges. The cost of building this Cobra replica was over £68,000 without any labour and it has only covered a mere 1071 miles since it was built. This car is registered as an Historic 1972 Ford Convertible with a period 1965 number plate. This is a great chance to own a complete head turning fire breathing sports car at a fraction of the cost of its original build cost.
