Description

"Following the launch of the 911/996, Porsche launched the GT3, the first 996 variant intended for the racetrack. Its 3.6 litre engine was derived from the GT1 and delivered 360 horsepower at 7,200 rpm, offering 60 additional horsepower over the base 3.4 litre motor in the standard Carrera. It was also fitted with adjustable suspension and a unique body kit, including a dual-plane rear wing. The interior featured sports seats, whilst some of the interior trim was removed to keep weight down. Porsche also built a track only version of the GT3, dubbed the GT3 Clubsport. Only a handful of differences can be noted in comparison to the GT3, including the fitment of a full roll cage and a Nomex covered driver’s seat with side airbags omitted. Whilst not generally intended for daily driving, this edition was track-ready in every aspect and able to compete in a number of racing series worldwide.
This 2004 example of the iconic Porsche 911 GT3 makes no apologies for its odometer reading; it has been used by its previous owners for the very reason it was designed - as a road going car capable of driving long distances daily but with equal ability on the race track and we are informed this is an incredibly capable car in both respects. This UK delivered GT3 is well specified with a rear half cage and harness coupled to the leather bucket seats; however it still retains the daily seatbelts for road going use. The car has been uprated to Clubsport specification and also boasts sports steering wheel and carbon fibre mirrors with a GT3 RS front bumper. Finished in Cobalt blue with black leather interior, this GT3 was repainted in 2017 and importantly had a full engine rebuild to Clubsport Specification by specialists Porsche Torque in 2016 to the tune of £28,000. The rebuild, just 12,000 miles ago, included a single mass flywheel and lightweight front pulley, new heads, valves, pistons, cylinders and con-rods. The gearbox has also been fitted with Motorsport Cup LSD friction plates for performance and the vendor states that the car is truly excellent to drive. The invoice for this work and much more can be found in a comprehensive history file which shows that this car has had regular service intervals and what appears to be a no expense spared philosophy. With just four former keepers and invoices dating back to its first service in 2006 with Porsche Leeds and up to its recent specialist service this Spring, this car inspires confidence and has an MoT test certificate until April 2019 with no advisories. It is also quite possibly the best value for money 911/996 GT3 on the market by some way and looks fabulous both on the road or on the track."
