Description

"Introduced in early 1971, the 3rd generation SL was considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor but it still showed a slight resemblance. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generations of SLs, the vehicle came as an open roadster with a removable hardtop roof.  The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during the production run. The car featured a two-door monocoque body shell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front, semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear.
Originally registered on 1st September 1980, this delightful Mercedes-Benz is finished in Cashmere Gold with matching half leather interior. The six-cylinder 2746cc engine runs very well and the automatic transmission operated as it should. Having covered just 84,900 miles in its 38 years on British roads, this 280SL has plenty of enjoyable motoring left in her and comes supplied with a V5C registration document together with an MoT test certificate valid until 11th April 2019, a hardtop and some service history.  These stylish sports cars are increasingly desirable; a combination of reliability, comfort and open-top motoring contribute to making the R107 a highly sought-after classic."
