THIS CAR
Enzo Ferrari fell in love with what he called the “song of a V-12” working with Packard aero engines during WWI. That love found expression decades later in the grand touring cars Ferrari built, such as this unrestored, low-mileage 365 GTC/4.

With its clean, swooping Pininfarina lines, the GTC/4 at once recalls the Daytona while moving the design language forward. The low nose was possible thanks to the zeitgeist innovation of the era, pop-up headlights, and the use of sidedraft Weber carburetors bolted to manifolds cast into the intake cam covers, thereby reducing the height of the Colombo V-12. Although designed specifically to meet US emissions requirements, power was a healthy 320 hp. Meant as a state-of-the-art grand touring car, the GTC/4 was equipped with power steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, and all-independent suspension with self-leveling at the rear. Heating and ventilation were also improved, altogether giving the GTC/4 fine over-the-road capabilities.

Chassis 15609 was delivered new to Clarke Simpkins Ferrari of Vancouver, British Columbia. The rear axle ratio was 4:09, and 15609 stood on the timeless five-spoke 7.5" x 15" Cromodora alloy wheels. Documentation confirms the original colors as Silver, with tan Connolly leather seats and a black dashboard. This GTC/4 was well optioned, with air-conditioning, power windows, and a Becker Mexico AM/FM/cassette stereo.

Today, this three-owner car has covered just 18,826 miles and is supplied with books, tools, and invoices detailing two recent major services, performed in 2014 and 2017. Work performed by Ferrari Maserati of Vancouver in late 2014 included new self-leveling shocks, new spark plugs, and a carburetor rebuild, along with other ancillary parts. In August 2017, the GTC/4 went to Milestone Motorcars in Boynton Beach, Florida, for a freshening that included a new clutch and starter ring gear, along with exhaust resonators and other ancillary items.

This GTC/4 is a rare and desirable unrestored, low-mileage, and well-documented V-12 Ferrari. Ferrari Classiche certification had been applied for at the time of cataloguing. Presenting beautifully in its original colors, this well-optioned example has been lovingly cared for. Poised to be driven or preserved, this GTC/4 offers an exciting opportunity to add a superlative grand touring Ferrari to your stable.
