The Model - Almost from the start, Jaguar's heritage was built on racing and in March 1961, that was driven home at the Geneva Motor Show with the debut of the E-type. Often referred to in the USA as the XKE, a pseudo-continuation of the XK models, it was apparent this car was directly related to the legendary D-type. With streamlined styling, these cars excelled in both racing versions and the money-making street editions. Constant improvements were employed with the E-type with minor body modifications and upgrades to the drivetrain, suspension, braking, steering, electrical and cooling systems. Jaguar's E-type has been credited with bringing in new generations of sports car fans from around the world and its design traits have been copied on everything from Ferrari to Porsche to Datsun. With certified top-speeds well in excess of 120 MPH, these early cars were a blast to drive when new, and today it is an honor to be at the controls of one of the world's greatest production sports cars.

The Car - One of the best things about the Jaguar E-types is that they look good in just about any color, but most befitting colors for this design has to be Carmen Red, the hue of choice for this 1964 3.8-Liter version. Red is such a pretty color, especially when traveling at speed. The matching bucket seats have received the same treatment as well as the very rare removable hard top. The new soft top has been done in a conventional black and really compliments the entire look of the open two-seater. Under the hood that Jaguar engine has been rebuilt and detailed to show-car condition, with each of those SU carburetors acting like crown jewels. The wood-rimmed steering wheel looks so inviting and for the pilot of this car, the original white-on-black Smith's gauges are clean, clear, functioning and easy to read. The only non-factory element we spotted was the up-graded AM-FM-CD player mounted neatly in the dashboard. This car has retained almost all of its factory sheet metal and even its original serial number/data plate which lists the numbers for the chassis, engine, transmission and more. Riding on a set of chrome knock-off wire wheels, this E-type sits level with all trim, door, deck and hood panels lining up as new.
