Matthew Humphries’ latest watch is driven by car design

In a fitting partnership for the car designer turned watch designer, Matthew Humphries Design’s new timepiece takes inspiration from his latest four-wheeled creation, the Alcraft Motor Company GT…

Duality in design

While the all-electric vehicle also penned by the eponymous founder of MHD Watches may be thoroughly futuristic in its aesthetics, the AGT watch is thoroughly classic with a contemporary edge. The AGT features an exoskeleton lug design chassis and central barrel case, akin to the exposed elements of the Alcraft GT, with a British automotive interior staple in the form of knurled and polished chamfered-edges to the steel case, as the steel colour sunray dial with laser cut markers keep the face legible and clear. The delicate MHD logo shares the dial with three letters that represent MHD’s ethos — ‘GBD’, for Great British Design. Powered by a Miyota 9015 automatic movement, which can be viewed through the sapphire crystal case back, the AGT has a 42-hour power reserve and is available with either black or brown calf leather straps. With shipping expected to commence in December, all that remains is for its four-wheeled muse to gain funding for production…
