Description

Introduced in 1996, the 550 Maranello represented a return to form for Ferrari, with the company’s 12-cylinder model moving from the mid-engine layout seen on the Berlinetta Boxer and Testarossa back to a traditional front-engine configuration, last appearing with the famed 365 GTB/4 Daytona. The latest Ferrari was immediately hailed as an instant classic, combining a thrilling analog driving experience with tasteful Pininfarina styling and excellent ride quality. In 2004, EVO magazine declared the 550 Maranello the “Greatest Drivers’ Car” of the previous generation, stating that, “There’s never been a supercar that’s so exploitable and so rounded in its abilities.”

Built in May 1998, this 550 Maranello was specified in an attractive, seldom-seen color combination of Blu Nart with complementing dark blue leather upholstery. Equipped with optional Scuderia shields, this Ferrari was sold new in the San Francisco Bay Area and has remained there since, accruing less than 14,500 total miles in the hands of three knowledgeable caretakers. Offered today from one of the world’s great Ferrari collections, this impressive 550 Maranello is outfitted with a high-end McIntosh stereo system and is accompanied by its original tool kit, car cover, and a CARFAX Vehicle History Report.

Given its desirable specifications and limited use, this 550 Maranello will be a wonderful addition to a comprehensive collection, or it could just as easily serve as a rewarding and user-friendly entry into Ferrari ownership.
