Description
This 1963 Porsche 356 B Cabriolet marks one of the finest expressions of Porsche’s cornerstone model. It was completed on September 19, 1962, finished in Champagne Yellow, and generously equipped with 13 factory options. Delivered new to Dutch Porsche importer Ben Pon, the 356 B Cabriolet was purchased by M.A. Basinger of Denver, and then shipped stateside.
In 1992, this Cabriolet received a nut-and-bolt restoration at Gary Balzer’s Vintage Garage in Hanford, California, including a refinish in its factory color with the interior trimmed in beige leather. A former Porsche Parade concours participant, this 356 B rides on proper May 1962 date-stamped wheels and is accessorized with Hella fog lamps, a Leitz luggage rack with leather ski straps, luggage straps, and a three-piece period luggage set, Coco floor mats, period tools, a jack, and accessories.
Formerly part of a respected Texas Porsche collection, this Cabriolet – informally known as “Buttercup” – is well presented in all respects and has been dutifully maintained. In addition to the factory Kardex and certificate of authenticity, the Porsche is accompanied by a comprehensive file containing restoration invoices, several concours judging sheets, an original service book, a 1962 Porsche accessory list, and an owner’s manual. Ready for continued enjoyment, this immensely collectible 356 B Cabriolet is sure to garner admiration everywhere it goes.
