From Monterey to Maranello, celebrating 70 years of Ferrari with RM Sotheby’s

Summer is here and the auction houses are busy! Especially RM Sotheby’s, which not only has its annual American and European benchmark sales — Monterey and London — coming up, they’ve also added into the mix a special 70th anniversary of Ferrari sale in Maranello. Get prepared for the auction storm…

Rampant Cavallino Rampante

Known for their impressive Ferrari acquisitions and sales, RM Sotheby’s is stepping up their Prancing Horse game this year — in honour of 70 years of Ferrari — with a collection of 13 performance models being offered for sale at their annual Monterey sale. The Ferrari Performance Collection spans 50 decades, starting with their headlining 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta by Scaglietti (est. 8.5–10m US dollars) and ending with the less-than-520-mile 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO (est. 700,000–800,000 US dollars), with some stunning examples in between. But the Cavallino Rampante offerings don’t end in California, as RM Sotheby’s will be hosting a very special single-marque auction at the Ferrari Factory in Maranello on 9 September, after a quick stop in London on 6 September for their annual sale in Battersea Park. If you’re on the search for a new Prancing Horse, these next few weeks could be the prime opportunity to find the trusty steed you’ve been looking for…
