This Honda Super Cub is the coolest surfboard hauler around

There are worse problems to have, but for the motorbike enthusiast who’s also a surfing enthusiast, the practice of one passion often negates the other. Luckily, the great minds at Deus Ex Machina’s Bali outfit have a solution, the ‘Sea Sider’…

All aboard

Starting with a 1974 Honda C70 Super Cub, a 1995 Honda Astra engine has replaced the wheezing six-horsepower original, offering not only more power but also improved reliability — after all, there’d be nothing worse than missing that perfect break because your surfer scooter wouldn’t start. Lightness was also important for the Deus team, so weight-saving measures, such as bicycle handlebars and lightweight rims, were added and the frame was stripped of any unnecessary components. The custom-fabricated front basket is an injection of practical retro, and of course, the surf rack itself was handmade especially for the Sea Sider. We can think of no better way to cover the Bali shoreline, with board by your side and waves ahead…
