Jaguar Classic to launch new ‘E-type Reborn’ programme at Techno Classica

First the E-type Lightweight, then the XKSS, and now the E-type road car — Jaguar Classic is continuing its campaign to preserve the history of the brand with its latest restoration programme, dubbed ‘E-type Reborn’…

Factory fresh

Akin to the Range Rover and Land Rover Reborn initiatives, Jaguar Classic will use its extensive knowledge and purpose-built facility in Coventry to source, restore, and sell Series 1 E-types. Each car will be restored to exacting original standards, although customers will be able to order sympathetic upgrades, such as all-synchromesh gearboxes and cooling improvements, should they desire. Where new parts are needed, items from Jaguar Classic Parts will be used, and engineers will go to such lengths as recreating original spot-weld patterns upon installation to keep things authentic. The first ‘Reborn’ E-type, a 1965 Series 1 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe, will be unveiled at the Techno Classica Essen show, and if the programme proves as successful as past classic reboots, the starting price of 285,000 pounds is unlikely to trouble customers…
