Navigate the deep blue skies with Breitling’s latest special edition

Inspired by the deep blue skies in which the Navitimer GMT was designed to be worn, Breitling has revealed a limited edition ‘Aurora Blue’ version of its cult chronograph…

A fitting transformation

At 48mm, the Breitling Navitimer GMT Aurora Blue is by no means a discreet watch, but the use of a sunburst effect on the beguiling blue (and busy) dial, contrasted with the darker ‘tone on tone’ sub-dials, makes for a somewhat tasteful timepiece. Within the case beats Breitling’s Calibre B04 movement, which combines a precision chronograph with a dual-time GMT complication, adjustable by a pull-out crown that changes the time in one-hour increments without disturbing the running seconds. The Navitimer was originally designed for pilots to use across two timezones simultaneously, and actually became the first chronograph ever to be worn in space, as the historic advert above illustrates. Just 1,000 Navitimer GMT Aurora Blues will be produced, available on a steel bracelet, a crocodile leather band or a rubber strap with an aircraft tyre-tread motif.
