The pursuit of speed

In the 1950s, the dustbin fairing was the darling of most Grand Prix motorcycle designers looking to eek more straight-line speed from their machines. The trouble was, they weren’t very good at much else – cornering, for example. Perhaps the most iconic bike to wear one was the Moto Guzzi V8, with its innovative tiny 500cc V8 engine designed by Giulio Cesare Carcano in 1955. Inspired by the bike, Vanguard Clothing commissioned Numbnut Motorcycles in Amsterdam to build a modern interpretation of the ’50s legend, sadly sans V8 engine but with a new take on the distinctive fairing. So, what do you think? We’ll reserve our judgement until we see this beast in the metal..
