This is how Big Brother will experience your new Bentley Mulsanne

Can’t quite spot the new Bentley Mulsanne in this idyllic photograph of the famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco? That’s nothing a bit (ahem, a lot) of zoom won’t sort. In fact, if you keep zooming, you’ll even be able to identify the colour of the stitching on the car’s leather seats...

This is a 50-billion-pixel panoramic image, created with the use of NASA-developed technology designed for use on Mars and so big that, if it were printed, it would cover the size of a football field. It’s hardly surprising, then, that the extent of the Bentley Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase’s duotone specification can be clearly seen – once you’ve zoomed in around 700 metres to the car, that is. We wonder how long it will take for technology such as this to filter into our everyday lives – we’re not sure how comfortable we feel about smartphones and surveillance cameras being able to go into so much detail. Then again, we’ll never know just how much Big Brother sees and knows already, and that’s definitely a good thing.
