Breguet buys back a chronograph it built for Ettore Bugatti

In a bid to strengthen its collection of historical timepieces and preserve its rich heritage, Breguet has reacquired a fabulous dashboard chronograph it created for Ettore Bugatti in the inter-War period…

Originally destined to adorn the steering wheel of the ultra-luxurious Royale model, this Breguet dashboard chronograph – No. 2023 – was one of seven commissioned by Ettore Bugatti in the early 1930s. The ornate 67mm timepiece comprised a number of automobile-related complications, such as a tachymeter scale around the outside of the gorgeous cream dial and a cumulative minutes counter, visible through a window at 6 o’clock. Complete with its original box, it was sold to the Maison for 76,200 euros at Artcurial’s Rétromobile sale in Paris.
