The Huracán LP580-2 proves Lamborghini hasn’t lost its sense of humour

Who said Lamborghini had lost its sense of humour? The new two-wheel-drive Lamborghini Huracán is a little less powerful than its all-wheel-drive sibling, but supposedly a lot more fun…

While it’s strange to see Lamborghini – the cornerstone of supercar madness – actually lowering a new car’s power (610HP down to 580HP), the new Huracán LP580-2 has been designed solely for rear-wheel driving fun, and should silence the critics who bemoaned the all-wheel-drive car’s lack of emotion. We really like the more aggressive new front and rear styling, and welcome the 33kg reduction in weight, thanks to the loss of the hefty all-wheel-drive system. Of course, the choice of a manual transmission (like that in the Gallardo ‘Balboni’ edition, probably our favourite modern Lamborghini) would nudge the car even further into the realms of serious driver’s car, but we can’t complain too much. The fact that Lamborghini has engineered a car not for outright speed, but for pure enjoyment, is something for which we’ve been waiting a long time.
