A final piece for Ettore: Les Légendes de Bugatti No. 6, the 'Ettore Bugatti'

The sixth and final ‘Legend of Bugatti’ – perhaps predictably – takes its inspiration from the legendary Type 41 Royale, and is dedicated to the charismatic founder of the company…

A year ago, Monterey was the venue for the unveiling of the first in the series of Bugatti Legends and, on 15 August, it will also witness the grand finale, with the world premiere of the sixth and final car in the series. Built on the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, only three examples of the Veyron Ettore Bugatti will be built, each one costing 2.35 million euros (net of taxes, if such a small detail bothers you).

Cordovan for 1,200 horsepower

Ettore Bugatti’s enthusiasm for riding was the basis of the idea to use, for the first time, fine Cordovan horse leather for some of the interior: for example, the steering wheel and the gearshift lever are finished with this rich brown leather. Elsewhere, naturally dyed cowhide is used.

Externally, a two-tone body – blue carbonfibre at the rear and hand-polished aluminium at the front – are a clear tribute to the 1932 Type 41 Royale, while the famous Bugatti horseshoe and EB logo are in platinum.

All six in one go

The official Monterey debut of the Veyron Ettore Bugatti, almost exactly a year after the presentation of the first legend (which was dedicated to racing driver Jean-Pierre Wimille), offers something special to visitors. In what will probably be the only opportunity to see all six Bugatti Legends gathered in one place before they are handed over to their new owners, the final car in the series will be joined by its five siblings – a real highlight of the Monterey Classic Car Week.
