Porsche 919 Hybrid stands ready for Le Mans

On Saturday 14 June, Porsche will make its long-awaited return to Le Mans with the 919 Hybrid – seen here in its full livery for the first time…

We can’t deny that we were hoping for a memory-inducing livery such as the Gulf, Martini or even ‘Hippie’ schemes of yore. But how can we complain – we’re going to see an LMP1-class Porsche at La Sarthe for the first time since 1998.

Shown here alongside the latest 991-generation 911 RSR (competing in the GTE class), the 919 will use a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre petrol engine twinned with an electric motor powering the front wheels. A gripping showdown with its diesel-hybrid Audi cousin surely awaits – roll on 14 June…
