According to the French auction house, the valuable Group 4 rally car is the sole existing Calberson-liveried R5. As one of the official works cars, chassis B000036 competed in the Tour Auto and Monte Carlo Rally in the early 1980s, and remains in excellent condition.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the flying Frenchman during the Rétromobile sale – perhaps we can persuade the new owner to take their maiden voyage along the Champs-Élysées?
