Considered by many to be the last of the traditional British sports cars, the Triumph TR6 was the last of a long and fine line of fast and affordable open two seaters. Its origins lie in the TR2 of 1953 which evolved into the first of the similarly Belgrove-styled TR3/TR3A and then the Michelotti-penned TR4 and TR4A. When launched in 1968, the TR6 received a warm welcome and was regarded as the spiritual successor to the muscular Austin Healey 3000. Cars from 1973 onwards used a softer camshaft and revised fuel injection, improving refinement and flexibility. The gearbox was also given new ratios and the optional overdrive was also improved, as was the facia, while the bodywork received a chin spoiler to improve stability.
