The Springfield version of the Phantom I was produced to satisfy the demand from the US market for a left-hand-version of the successor to the great Silver Ghost; the very different driving conditions meant that a wide-spaced three-speed gearbox was more appropriate, and many clients also preferred American lighting and electrical systems. All the cars of course were as refined and superbly comfortable as the British version, to say nothing of their legendary reliability and durability.
