1988 Le Mans, 1988 European Interseries Championship Winning Car
1987 Porsche Kremer Kenwood 962
Chassis Number: CK6-88
The Porsche 956 and its successor, the 962, were the outstanding sports racing cars of the 1980s, a period which saw a dramatic revival of the category’s fortunes and a level of factory participation not known for many years. Porsches won the Group C World Championship five years in succession, 1982-6, and what is more remarkable is that the factory itself did not always run cars, allowing privateer teams to race their cars, and win at the highest level.
The design team, headed by Norbert Singer began work in the summer of 1981, on the car that became the 956, with the aim of continuing the Stuttgart marque’s domination of sports car racing. Their record in the Le Mans 24 hour race alone
