RM to offer ex-Finnish ice racing Jaguar D-type at Monterey 2013

With RM’s annual Monterey extravaganza only a couple of months away, an already impressive line-up of cars has been considerably bolstered by the addition of XKD 530, a 1955 Jaguar D-type first delivered to Finland and used for racing on ice...

Its first owner, Mr Curt Lincoln, raced it throughout Scandinavia and also holds the honour of finishing first in class in the 1961 Leningrad Grand Prix - the only Jaguar to have raced within the USSR during the Cold War.

In more recent years it has completed many Mille Miglia Retrospectives and would be a shoo-in for most of the world’s events. Remember, the Le Mans Classic will be held again in 2014.

Buyers missing out on this racing Jaguar can also consider the car that RM will offer at its London sale this September, the ‘long-nose’, ex-factory, ex-Ecurie Ecosse 1955 Jaguar D-type, chassis XKD 504.
