Porsche’s Most Powerful Oil-Burner: Cayenne S Diesel

Porsche has revealed a new 4.2-litre V8 diesel version of the Cayenne S – the most powerful diesel model in the marque’s line-up. Biturbo charging helps takes maximum power up to 382HP, combined with a quite breathtaking 850Nm of torque.

The performance figures illustrate just how impressive this new version of the Cayenne is: 0-100km/h (62mph) in 5.7 seconds, and a top speed of 252km/h. Yet, thanks to the world’s first auto start/stop in a V8 diesel SUV, fuel consumption comes in at 8.3 litres per 100km, with CO2 at a very respectable 218g/km.

The Cayenne S Diesel boasts PTM active all-wheel drive (to give rear-wheel-drive characteristics in most conditions), while the optional Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) makes the dynamics even sportier.

From the outside, the new top-of-the-range diesel model is cosmetically a Cayenne S, displaying the typical visual features of the eight-cylinder versions. There are silver brake calipers and black fins at the front – plus ‘diesel’ badging on the front of the wings and a Cayenne S badge at the rear.

The Cayenne S Diesel will reach the market in January 2013. The price has been given as 77,684 euros in Germany – including 19 per cent VAT and country-specific features.
