Ferrari's latest Special Projects car, based on a 599 GTO

A rendering of a one-off Ferrari based on the 599 GTO has been shown in the latest Ferrari Magazine. The Special Projects car has been commissioned by a Dubai-based client and is set to be delivered early next year.

The fortunate recipient of the unique car – which is yet to be given a name – is 32-year-old businessman Cheerag Arya. He is well-known to Maranello, owning a collection that includes a 575M Maranello, an F430 Scuderia, an Enzo, a Daytona, a 599XX, a 599 GTO, an SA Aperta and an F40. In other words, a customer of long standing who fully meets the criteria of Special Projects commissioning.

Beyond the computer rendering, little is known about the car apart from the fact that it's based on a 599 GTO and that the custom bodywork derives from Arya’s favourite elements of 12 different designs drawn up by the Special Projects team. So, unlike the SP12 EC, rather than focusing on reinterpreting a particular model, there are influences from over 60 years of Ferrari’s history, from its birth right up to the F12berlinetta.

Arya told Ferrari Magazine: “Once it’s done, I’ll keep it in Dubai, but will take it to Europe every summer. I won’t be showing it to the world, as it’s a personal thing to me.” Let’s hope we’ve managed to catch a glimpse of the finished product by this time next year.
