Planning to give your dining room a new look? Here’s an idea for how to impress your dinner guests with some Parisian elegance, even if your gourmet skills are not quite Michelin-starred standard. The Eiffel Tower’s Le Jules Verne restaurant décor from 1983 to 2007 will go on sale in Paris next month – offering a golden opportunity for design enthusiasts to snap up a piece of culinary history.
Located 125 metres above the ground, on Level Two of the Eiffel Tower, Le Jules Verne is perhaps the most famous restaurant in Paris. Known for its top-notch cuisine, intimate atmosphere and sweeping views over the 'City of Lights', the high-end eatery has long been a must for visiting gastronomes from all around the world.
Porcelain black-and-white crockery and steel-framed chairs with wheels are among the many peculiar items to go under the hammer in the gigantic sale. However, the top lot is undoubtedly a black lacquered grand piano, once used to entertain fine diners high above the rooftops of ‘the most romantic city in the world’ – imagine yourself tickling the ivories on this piece of Parisian history at your next dinner party.
