Description

Berkel model 3 is built in the period between 1915 and 1924 in Rotterdam and marketed in the Italian market from Bach & co. -P.zza Cavour, Milano.

Unlike previous Berkel mod. 2 use the Sharpener careened closed, uses a 350 mm blade. in the first series, then a 370 mm blade. The drive of the machine via a flywheel to floral design of outer diameter different from the period and sales totaled 357 mm. for the italian market embossed with the words “Berkel’s Patent Rotterdam”. 399 mm. for the first series with the inscription “van Berkel’s Patent Rotterdam Holland” while for the second series 394 mm. with the embossed inscription “van Berkel’s Patent Rotterdam Holland.” Depending on the countries where they sold were applied plates; an oval on the chest-piece from the opposite side than the flywheel and a roundabout at the bottom of the shoulder. The Berkel mod 3 was produced originally in colors of red, black and ivory and metal parts were nickel-plated.
