Description

TVR Chimaera 400

MODEL HISTORY
TVR is an independent British manufacturer of lightweight sports cars with powerful engines. The company was, at one time, the third-largest specialist sports car manufacturer in the world. The abbreviation TVR stems from the name of the company's owner Trevor Wilkinson.
The Chimaera was first produced in 1993. The name was derived from Chimera, the monstrous creature of Greek mythology, which was made of the parts of multiple animals. The car was designed by Peter Wheeler, John Ravenscroft.
The Chimaera was based on the Griffith's running gear and chassis but was fitted with a softer suspension set up, with Bilstein dampers and a rear anti-roll bar. The car was originally provided with a 4-liter or 4.3-liter version of the Rover V8, axle fitted to the Griffith. There were about 6,000 produced in total.

EQUIPMENT
Sturgeon Crimson metallic paintwork, Magnolia leather upholstery, Butterscotch carpets, Black folding soft-top with removable center panel, electric windows, Electrically adjustable by mirrors, Sony CD player with USB and Spare key.

INTERIOR
The TVR boasts soft Magnolia Hide with complementing Butterscotch carpets. The supple leather upholstery presents in excellent, scuff-free condition with no discolouration to report. The color-matched console and panel trim is also well preserved. The sill covers also bear the Chimaera logo and look fantastic with their unmarked polished appearance. In the boat you will find a covered wheel.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 4.0 TVR-tuned V8 sounds great through the car's twin pipes. The engine performs very well on test. The car has been extremely well maintained, with sixteen entries in the service booklet at close mileage intervals. The 5-speed gearbox is a joy to operate.

WHEELS, TIRES & BRAKES
The 15-inch five spoke wheels are well suited to the Chimaera, presenting brilliant silver with smart TVR center caps. There is a matching set of Uniroyal tires. Between the spokes the brake discs appear in fine condition, and the calipers all retain their factory silver finish.

HISTORY FILE
This cossetted Chimaera was first registered in July 1995. It was sold through Brundle TVR in King's Lynn. The first seven services were carried out by the supplying dealer and the others by specialists. The History File is complete with the original TVR document pack containing the owner's manual and service booklet.
