Chassis No. TS 27810 L Displacement 1996 cc Cylinder 4 In-Line Odometer readind: 85703 miles - Condition: Conservative Restoration - The History The Triumph Roadster 3 (TR3) is a car produced by Triumph from 1955 to 1962. The updated version, informally known as TR3A, went into production in 1957 while the final version, called (not officially) TR3B, was only assembled in 1962. The TR3 was part of the British roadster category with front engine and rear-wheel drive. It had an in-line four-cylinder 1991 cm³ engine with overhead valves. This engine delivered 95 HP of power, so 5 hp more than that of the TR2. The four-speed manual transmission could be completed by an overdrive on the three highest gears. In 1956 the front drum brakes were replaced with Girling disc brakes which made the TR3 to become one of the first British cars to mount front discs and rear drums as standard. In addition to the upgraded engine, a new mask was installled. Thanks to the increased power of the engine, the TR3 was at 177 kph of speed. The chassis was the same as the TR2 and this allowed the TR3 to maintain small size and fall into the Sport car category. Overall, the driving responsiveness of the TR3 was excellent, despite the rear's tendency to "turn" into corners. The TR3 was a real roadster, explicitly designed to be used with uncovered bodywork, although still equipped with a capote: in addition, the customers could ask for an hard-top. 13,377 were assembled, 1,286 of which were sold in the UK and the rest exported mainly to the United States.
