Thanks to Battista Farina's great design skills, both the Sport Coupe and Cabriolet versions taken from the SIMCA 8 baseline will meet great enthusiasm from the public during the 1948 Paris Show. It is at that time when the brand will go on to buy the licence from the Stabilimenti Farina and entrust the bodywork manufacturing to Facel.
This specific example is exceptional in more than one way. First, this car has always been in the same family since its birth and until 2008, when it was then bought at Artcurial. Its first proprietor, a SIMCA dealer in Chalon-sur-Saone, had passed it onto his nephew in 1984. Seduced by its unconventional original condition and in memory of Dinky Toys when he was younger, this is when our collector acquired it. It has since retained its original black cellulosic paint and beige leather interior, which may need some care. The beige fabric hood and tonneau cover are also original. Some work was nonetheless undertaken, such as the replacement of the fuel tank, rear shock absorbers and even the clutch release bearing. During our road test, we noted that the odometer was not working however the small 4-cylinder fitted with an optional aluminium oil sump was nervous. The dashboard is complete with its specific buttons and a beautiful steering wheel. With a successful design and reliable mechanics, this example is in gorgeous condition and deserves to be cared for.
