The Riley 2.5 liter RMD "Drophead" for sale here was delivered in England in 1950, it still wears the original license plates (FBO 815). In 2013 it came to Germany and was overhauled, meanwhile it presents itself with a nice patina.

The technology is in good condition, the car starts reliably and runs clean. The interior was refurbished in 2014 and presents itself in a corresponding condition. The paint was renewed about 15 years ago and still makes a good impression.

An elegant convertible, which has become rare in the meantime, which inspires one directly with its unique English charm. From the first turn of the crankshaft the powerful 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine is convincing and hangs cleanly and directly on the throttle. Thanks to the for the time amazingly direct steering, the car stays cleanly on track. The Riley can be driven very pleasantly and sportily, but is also not averse to a relaxed drive in the sunshine.

History of the series

The RMA was the first post-war Riley. It had a 1.5-liter engine and was equipped with partially hydraulic brakes and front wheels individually suspended on double wishbones with torsion bar springs. The body had a traditional wooden skeleton and was in the classic style. The car reached a top speed of 120 km/h, was manufactured from 1946 to 1953 and then replaced by the RME.

The RMB was an enlarged RMA and was released a year later. It had the 2.5-liter ("Big Four") engine with two SU carburetors, initially rated at 90 hp, then 101 hp from 1948. It reached a top speed of 152 km/h and was replaced by the RMF in 1952.

The RMD was a classic convertible, the last from Riley. It also had the 2.5 liter engine of the RMB from which it was derived. A limited production of only 502 units was made between 1949 and 1951.
