In the early 1950s, it was common to wait several months before a customer could take possession of his new vehicle. In order to shorten their wait, some buyers went to purchase their cars directly from the factory showroom. This was the case of the first owner of this 4CV, which left the factory February 24, 1955 with several options including the front seat cover in faux leatherette. The customer came to Paris to pick up his car, and drove down to his home in Thiers, running-in the car on the way. The car made a few more trips before the death of its owner, and since then the car has been in storage, with 639km on the odometer. In 1985, at the death of the widow, the car was offered at an auction and bought by a collector who had been coveting it for many years. The car went into storage since then without being driven. The current owner bought the car in 2008 and today the odometer reads a tad over 860 km! Only the brakes have been redone, the rest remains strictly original. The car still has the end-of-assembly line check label in the wheel arch and the factory chalk markings. This is certainly the best preserved and the lowest mileage 4CV in the marketplace, unique and with a touching story.
