The good driving behaviour, the finely chosen bucket proportions and the large tank with corresponding range. All plus points that Autovisie named in its test of the "Vo-po 914" in Autovisie number 3 of 1970. The car was ordered new by the importer in 1969 and was one of the very first Porsche 914s in the Netherlands. After “24-88-MK” served briefly in the press fleet of Porsche importer Pon, she was sold to the first private owner. In total, this 914 has had only three owners. The car has already been fully restored and overhauled and is in beautiful condition. The restoration was carried out with a great sense of originality.

The body of the 914 looks beautiful. The car was repainted in its original color during the restoration and looks beautiful. The total restoration took four years and is mainly responsible for the fact that the car still looks to pass through a ring. The 914 is fitted with original Fuchs rims which, as usual, are partly painted in the color of the car. The rims are fitted with good Vredestein tires in the correct sizes. The car is also equipped with original bumpers and lamps and still looks just as beautiful as on the day that Pon gave her to the journalists of Autovisie and the Auto Kampioen. The paint was very well sprayed at the time and the body is also completely sleek. The sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct. The Targa roof is easily removable and fits perfectly anywhere when mounted.

The interior has already been completely reupholstered. Here too, work has been done with great attention to detail. Witness to this is, among other things, the fact that the dashboard is painted in the color of the body (which makes it immediately clear that the car was completely disassembled before it was painted). In addition, the 914 is equipped with beautiful skai leather upholstery on the seats and well-fitting carpets. According to Autovisie, the 914 is equipped with a “poor trim”. The interior of the 914 could also be described as effective. Right in front of you, the tachometer sits next to it on either side, respectively, with a fuel gauge and an odometer. Of course there are some warning lamps and controls for the stove. Nothing too much, but everything you need in a real sports car.

Because although the 1.8 liter four-cylinder boxer engine with fuel injection delivers “only” 84 hp, on the other hand, the curb weight is also only 950 kilos. Add to this that the wheels are on the corners of the body, the engine is exactly between the axles and the car is equipped with a fine-shifting manual transmission with five gears and good gearbox ratios and all the ingredients for a very nice driving car are present. The engine and transmission were completely overhauled during the restoration and have been perfectly maintained since then. Many parts of the chassis and brakes were also renewed during the restoration. This 914 drives exactly as a real Porsche should. Although the 911 is closer to the Porsche 356 in terms of layout, the 914 with its four-cylinder boxer could be seen as the true spiritual successor of the 356. What is certain is that Porsche definitely got the most out of the 914 chassis.

This example is beautifully documented. The car will be delivered including a copy of the original proof of purchase, an Autovisie containing the test with this example, an extensive workshop manual and a lot of general information that the previous owner kept during the long period that he was the owner (1998 until the end of 2021). For example, there is a description of the car and an extensive photo series of the restoration.

In short, a beautiful Porsche 914 1.8 in fantastic condition with an impeccable history. A real car for the real enthusiast.
