Description

This splendid recreation of Porsches legendary 2.7RS was built during the late nineties using a sound 1969 Porsche 912 as a base. The history line begins in November 1989 with the procurement of many replacement panels from Autofarm with invoices indicating that work continued until 1994. The comprehensive history file contains a complete photographic record of the build and multiple invoices from renowned Porsche specialists Autofarm, Autostrasse and main dealer Lancaster Porsche. The file also contains an invoice from S.P. Dunmow bodywork specialists who prepared the shell fitting new sills, repairing the front and rear inner wings and fitting new outer rear wings in 1991. All the outer body seams were lead-loaded and painted in primer. The car was then painted by JS Body Repairs of Stow Maries Essex. In 1998, Discount 9 Autotech Ltd of Bridgend supplied a 2.7-litre engine and gearbox and conducted the installation. They were well versed in this procedure having some eight years experience of these projects including replacing high-pressure fuel lines and electrical loom work to a very high standard. Finished in 1997, it was used until 2000 when a top end rebuild was conducted by Autostrasse.

The Porsche is finished in the classic RS colour combination of Bahia Red with black graphics and a very impressive black interior which includes a very rare pair of correct original Recaros in Corduroy and leather. The odometer indicates a mileage of 24,960 which ties in nicely with the MOTs in the file and presumably has been covered since the conversion was finished. The car appears to have spent some time at a fashionable London ‘Mews’ address and would have looked entirely at home in that setting.<
